The Academy

Unlike on Monday, I had my wide angle lens with me today. Hence, I was able to shoot the 'big' pictures. Here are the rifle and pistol teams in their smart shooting attire.

Shooters Can't Run

After this morning jog or rather stroll (don't let these photos fool you), I confirm it will take plenty of effort to get them to complete a 2.4km run in good time. Sigh! Patience... UK... Patience...

Group Tour

This afternoon, we moved lock, stock and barrel to HomeTeamNS shooting range for a week of training. With their luggage in tow, the monkeys looked like they were going on a Chan Brothers Travel tour.

By the way, the juniors finally received their rifle suit and once they put it on, they looked like mini-Shuet and mini-Audrey.

To Be Different

This afternoon after gym, I managed to share a few photographic pointers with Sheryl. In her first shot, I asked her to lie flat on her stomach so as to get a different perspective. In her second shot, the girls were not in the usual standing pose. Just like in life, we need to be different to stand out.

Splashing Good Time

This afternoon, I checked out the swimming ability of the monkeys and I am glad that all of them can swim.

Feb Babies

Happy Birthday to Lena, Nic, YQ and Samuel. A big thank you to my better half for baking the black forest cakes and heart shaped chocolate box filled with sweets.

NUS Invitational Shoot

This week Monday, the academy took part in its first competition. Four Sec 3 and two Sec 1 shooters participated in the NUS Invitational Shoot. It was a very competitive event. Those in the national team and those who are serious about Inter-Schools were there. I am glad to report that they did the school proud with some good results.

In the 10m air pistol women school division event, a total of 79 shooters took part. Clarissa shot 345 points out of 400 to finish in 24th placing, Nicole 33rd and Sheryl 36th.

In the air rifle event, the girls did extremely well. Out of 78 shooters, Martina finished in a very credible 16th placing; and Audrey 5th. The one that blew almost everyone away is Shuet Hwei. She scored 391 points out of 400 to clinch the silver medal. Our rifle girls combined scores of 391, 386 and 375, won them the team silver medal.

The monkeys are very fortunate to have good training facilities, enormous school’s support and great teammates. But most of all, they have fantastic coaches, Chea Rong and Nigel. They really make a difference.

By the way, Nigel also took part in this competition and he won the Air Pistol Men Open event.
