Back To School

It’s a brand new year and there are 11 new monkeys to manage. There are now a total of 41 shooters in the academy and it is not even full strength yet. I can sense more hair turning white.

Happy New Year to all.

SEASA Championship 2013

We just came back from a week long competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Half of the Shooting Academy was there to participate in the South East Asia Shooting Championship. The competitors in the 10m air weapon junior events were from Malaysia, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Singapore.

Our rifle boys and girls teams rose to the occasion to finish the year strongly. The rifle boys team of Yong Qing, Irwan and Ting Wei shot their way to the team title. Yong Qing also won himself an individual silver.

In the rifle girls event, Martina won the individual gold and in the process set a new championship record with a score of 397. Shuet Hwei shot her personal best of 395 to win the silver. Together with Adele, the girls clinched the Women Junior Team title.

Over in the pistol event, Fion’s score of 359, contributed to the Air Pistol Women Junior Team's silver medal.

2 Time Olympic Champion

The academy had the good fortune of meeting the 2 time Olympic shotgun gold medalist, Michael Diamond. This humble Australian sportsman also won several world championships titles.

This afternoon, he shared his shooting experiences and also what it takes to be a champion – discipline, hard work and patience.

At the end of the session, the shooters were rushing to take photos with him and his Olympics gold medals. He also patiently autographed their t-shirts, journals and target cards.

Once again, a very big thank you to this wonderful and inspiring champion! The academy would certainly root for him in his quest to do it all over again.

Freshmen Camp

It was 4 long days of sun, sea, dance and fun. I am sure the P6 shooters enjoyed themselves immensely. We look forward to welcome them into the Shooting Academy in Janauary.
